Once your application is received in the Human Resource Services department, processing begins. This can take from two to four weeks and includes sending for references and completing the criminal history check. Due to the high volume of applications, Midland ISD cannot interview all applicants. If interested in applying for an administrative or professional support position, submit a completed application by the designated deadline. Those applying for more than one position must include the job posting number for all positions in which you are applying. In addition, all applicants must submit appropriate and current documentation to verify certification for the position desired. If such documentation is not on file in Human Resource Services, applicants will not be considered.
Only offers for employment from HRS to an applicant are valid offers. You will be notified by Human Resource Services if you are to receive an offer of employment. Applicants that are not selected are not notified; however, you may contact HRS (432-240-1800) at any time to find out the status of a position.
Once the application, reference, and supporting documents have been received and processed, the application will be reviewed. You will be notified in writing if an interview is required by Human Resources. However, principals or directors will contact you directly for interviews if selected.
In order to make the interview/hiring process as streamlined as possible, please do not contact principals directly by telephoning or just "stopping by" his/her office. Principals are very busy, especially during the spring hiring season; however, as an optional activity, you may email a principal a letter of interest with a résumé A list of addresses is available through the Midland ISD Web Page.
Midland ISD accepts applications twelve months a year. Applications are processed throughout the year, and hiring takes place throughout the year. As would be expected, the busiest hiring time is in the spring and summer for the following school year. Most spring hiring is done in May, June, July and August; therefore, applicants interested in being considered for the fall hiring should turn in an application as early as January. Teaching contracts usually begin about the first week of August.
It is the district's practice to fill administrative, supervisory, and other professional positions by selecting the best qualified applicants. Qualified current employees will be given consideration when staffing these promotional positions. To be eligible for promotion, a current employee must meet the posted qualifications.
The Superintendent may waive any or all of the requirements of any administrative regulation and recommend the employment and/or assignment of a qualified individual, whether the individual is presently employed or from outside the district, when it is in the best interest of the district.
