My name is Debbie Tabb and I am the Physical Education teacher here at Henderson. I am starting my 28th year. I graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelors Degree in Child Development. I then went back to school and got my teaching certification from Stephen F. Austin State University. CATCH is taught to all grades. If your child is in grades 3-6, they will do the Fitness Testing which is a way for us to determine their fitness level. This information is kept confidential.
This year, your child will be graded on a 5 point system. They are expected to come to class prepared to participate to the best of their ability. Wearing the proper clothing and shoes is important for their active participation. Sending them with tennis shoes and (for the girls) shorts under their dresses helps them play safer.
If you have any questions or concerns I can help you with, please feel free to contact me at:
One of the requirements for your Sixth grader is a jump rope routine that is due a couple of days before we hold our annual Jump Rope For Heart Event. This event is usually held the Friday we get out for Spring Break in March.
This year our Jump Rope for Heart Event raised $4, 085.77 for the American Heart Association !!!!!!!!! Way to go HENDERSON TIGERS !!!!!!!!! Thanks to the help of our PTA and some amazing kids, we are making a difference in helping to stop heart disease.
This is turning out to be a wonderful year of exercise and fun !!!
