Welcome to a new semester at Washington Math/Science Institute. Here is some information about our after school program which we are calling Eagle U. Please read carefully as there are some changes to the program this year.

Our program runs from 3:45 to 4:45. All students will be parent pick-up at 4:45 and must be picked up by 5:15 p.m. We do not have buses this year at 4:45. We will use the same pick up locations at 4:45 as we have been using for 3:45. Students in first, second, and third grade will be picked up on the north side of the school along Wall Street. Kindergarten, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade will be picked up on the south side of the building in the drive through lane. Older siblings will go to the pick-up location of the youngest family member.

The spring session of Eagle U will begin January 9, 2017.  It is on a first come, first serve basis so please sign up quickly. Only 44 students from each grade level will be accepted each session. If students are not registered by the deadline then they will not be able to stay for Eagle U for that session.

After school classes will be broken up into Monday/Tuesday classes, Thursday/Friday classes and a Wednesday stand-alone class. Students will be able to sign up for the days they need to stay for Eagle U and then teachers will assign the students' classes. There will be a variety of topics and project based learning during Eagle U on Mond, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Wednesday classes will focus on reading, writing, and math fluency.

Tutorial information will come home later from grade level teachers.

One Wednesday per month we will not have Eagle U. This is to provide our teachers a staff development day. All students will be dismissed at 3:45 on the following dates:
Fall: September 7, October 5, November 2, December 7, 2016
Spring: January 11, February 8, March 1, April 5, and May 3, 2017.

We will continue to have an attendance policy for Eagle U. Students cannot miss more than 9 days in a semester. If a student misses more than 9 days they will be dismissed for the remainder of the session. If a student is absent for the entire day it will not count against their Eagle U attendance. Students who need to leave early for doctor/dentist appointments will not have attendance counted against them if they return a doctor's note to the office.
