Counselors
Adolfo ChavezIf you asked me why I became a school counselor, I would have to say that it was a blessing I didn't expect. Counseling has become one of the most important things in my life. I am able to help so many students and families in their desire to become successful. My desire is to be a part of our student's lives so that they can make a huge difference in our world!
I was fortunate to get a Bachelor's degree from Wayland Baptist University and a Master's from Sul Ross State University.
I was born in Guatemala, which is a country in Central America just south of Mexico. I have been married to my beautiful wife for 34 years. We enjoy traveling everywhere together and have been and visited many states and countries. I love to build things and work with my hands. I love to spend time in nature and take walks and hikes with my wife.
I have been a counselor in Midland for the past 18 years, and I was a teacher in Midland for nine years. My favorite subject was and is math. I taught 6th and 4th grade at Travis Elementary and was the counselor at Travis and Sam Houston Elementary.
Now I am the counselor here at Fasken Elementary, and I am so glad that I get the opportunity to be a part of one of the most amazing schools in Midland!!

Elizabeth Sarabia
Hello Aviators!
My name is Elizabeth Sarabia; I am one of the counselors at Fasken Elementary. I am ecstatic about being here and getting to serve our students and their families!
I earned my Bachelor's Degree from UTPB and a Master's from the University of the Southwest.
I was born in Texas but raised in Southeastern New Mexico. I've lived in Midland for 25 years. I understand and love the nature of our economy and how it affects the influx and outflow of our community; we are exceptionally resilient and innovative!
As a child, I always knew I would be an educator. I taught high school for six years, then took a break to earn my Master's degree in school counseling. I became a school counselor for many reasons, but here are my top three reasons:
- To serve students and their families by helping them navigate difficult circumstances that may arise.
- To activate a student's dreams about their future.
- To educate students/families about options that will help them achieve their future goals.
