George H. W. Bush Elementary opened its doors in 1989 as a primary grade school. Barbara Bush attended the dedication of the school named after her husband. After additional classrooms were built in 1993, Bush became the fifth grade school in the Cluster System. In 1995, President George H. W. Bush and Mrs. Bush visited the school. Ms. Toby Ward was the principal of Bush from 1989-1998 when Jill Arthur was named principal. In 1999-2000 the Cluster System was abolished and Bush added fourth and sixth grades to the campus. The dedicated staff fosters a safe and caring learning environment and fosters positive social and emotional behaviors and attitudes for students.
We have an enrollment of approximately 550 students from Kindergarten through Sixth Grade. In addition to the regular curriculum, Bush offers a gifted and talented program, programs for students with special needs, and a strings program beginning in the sixth grade.
