Welcome to my web page! You previously knew me as "Ms. Allen". I just got married this summer and now will be going by "Mrs. Hardaway".This is my fourth year as the Fine Arts teacher here at WMSI. My degree is in Art and Education, but I also enjoyed studying music and opera in college. I have the privilege of teaching every student at WMSI every year. I enjoy seeing them grow each year and learn to love music, art, and theater. In fine arts we try our best to fit in all three subjects every year so we can perform and display what we have learned! When I am not teaching I am usually playing guitar and traveling the world with my husband.
What Are We Up To In Fine Arts?
We have a lot to look forward to this year in Fine Arts. We have been blessed with a grant from the Education Foundation to purchase new, beautiful instruments. Also, construction starts soon on our new Fine Arts Classroom and new Stage! It will be an exciting year at Washington MSI. The new instruments are "pitched percussion" instruments. I will be using the ORFF method of instruction to teach rhythm, pitch, music notes, reading music, melody, and harmony along with various music concepts. My goal is for the older classes to learn several songs by Christmas break. The younger students will continue learning with the "Kodaly" method of music instruction and they will apply those concepts to the new instruments. Of course we will be creating artwork and dramatic performances throughout the year that go along with math and science concepts. I hope you can't wait to see what we create!
