Magnet Programs Application Process for Admission
2013-2014
Midland Independent School District offers magnet programs at three elementary campuses: James Bowie Fine Arts Academy, Elisha M. Pease Communications and Technology Academy, and Booker T. Washington Mathematics/Science Institute. A summary of the application process and sources of additional information are provided below.
Application guidelines.
* Students who currently are enrolled in Midland Independent School
District in kindergarten through grade 5 and students who are eligible
to enroll in the kindergarten program for the 2013 - 2014 school year
may apply for admission to a magnet program.
* A separate application must be completed for each student, including
siblings who want to apply for admission to attend a magnet school.
* Preference will be given to admitting siblings if requested information is
provided on re-enrollment forms and on applications, if space is available
and if siblings will attend the same school the same year.
* Students may apply for admission to one, two, or all three magnet
schools by completing a separate application for each magnet
school.
* Students who apply for admission to more than one magnet school will
be removed from all wait lists at the time parents select a magnet
school.
* The application process may be re-opened in the event that the lottery
process does not provide for full enrollment.
* Bilingual classes may not be offered at all magnet campuses.
* Students who withdraw from a magnet program must complete
the application process in order to be readmiited to a magnet program.
